PUB

Within the pub, you’ll find four distinct areas to enjoy. The Snug is a cosy and inviting space to eat, while the Piano Bar, featuring its own baby grand piano, offers a welcoming place to unwind. Our Upstairs Dining area, The Winning Post seats up to 40 guests and doubles as a function room, available to hire – with optional catering – for special occasions. Contact us to book.

The Main Bar area is a welcoming space for everyone to sit and enjoy a drink, from regulars and walkers to local shoot parties. We have our own branded craft lager, ‘The Riser’ on tap and we proudly serve a selection of local beverages, including ales from Nuttycombe Brewery, Quantock Brewery, Exmoor Ales, Dartmoor Ales, Butcombe Brewery and St Austell Brewery as well as Wicked Wolf Gin, Dryad Gin, Sheppy’s Cider and Loader’s Cider, along with a carefully curated range of wines, spirits, and cocktails. See the wine list.  For those looking for something non-alcoholic, we also offer tea, coffee, soft drinks, and light snacks at the bar. Dogs are very welcome at the pub.

OUTDOOR SEATING

There is seating available outside the pub, alongside the main entrance and we have just opened a new garden area, called Kinger’s Garden at the front this year. We also have a beer garden at the rear of the building, called the Sheppards Crook in honour of the original pub name.

During the summer we have regular events and live music in the beer garden, and have converted a horse box into an additional outdoor serving area, offering coffee, tea, cakes, Cornish pasties, afternoon teas, ice creams and local beers and ciders. Along with takeaway picnic packed lunches for walkers and visitors.

The Pub offers a perfect base for exploring the Quantocks area of outstanding natural beauty – and West Somerset.
